How a result is calculated
The calculation is kept separate from the page design. Inputs are checked, the working keeps full precision, and practical rounding is applied only to the result or buying quantity.
- Electricity is calculated in Wh or kWh.
- Battery estimates separate total energy, usable energy and delivered energy.
- Construction quantities start with measured area or volume.
- Land conversions use square feet as a clear bridge while keeping location and source context.
Rounding policy
Electricity commonly shows two decimals. Bricks and boxes round up for ordering. Cement shows the exact bag estimate and a purchase-rounded number. Regional land values avoid meaningless decimal places.
Source hierarchy
Government departments, regulators, BEE, official land-record documentation and recognised measurement standards are preferred. Competitor calculators are reviewed for product gaps, never treated as the sole technical authority.
Review and corrections
Core formulas and sources are reviewed when standards or source documents change. Send a correction with the calculator URL, value, location and supporting record; it will be investigated before any update.
Formula-validation workflow
Each calculator has a typed definition and a pure calculation path. A change is checked against the displayed formula, input units, substitution text, result labels and source IDs before release.
Automated and golden test cases
The build runs calculation tests for representative electricity, battery, brick, steel and tank cases. It also checks that every calculator produces finite labelled results, every field has a plain-language explanation, and metadata and direct routes render correctly.
Boundary and error checks
Numeric fields define allowed minimums and maximums. Tests exercise all calculator defaults; the interface explains out-of-range values and land conversions stop when a required location factor is unavailable.
How source conflicts are handled
A more specific primary or official source is preferred over a general table. Conflicting regional factors are not averaged. The factor is withheld or labelled approximate until its place and conversion can be represented honestly.
Review and version records
Every calculator displays a version, review date and current revision notes. Material formula, factor and source corrections are added to the public change record; wording-only changes are not presented as measured validation.
External validation status
Automated mathematical tests are not real-world measurement studies. GharGanit publishes measured comparisons only when the original method, inputs and observations can be disclosed; no validation percentage is invented.
